Welcome to Arma2dayz S.A.S.R - Special Arma Services Regiment
Dayz Is an Arma II Zombie Mod developed around mid 2012. Day Z creator Dean "Rocket" Hall came up with a new concept for gaming that he kept secret for some time before deploying the beta version to the world. DayZ has become a runaway success, much to his own suprise and as of only 6 months of the dayz beta being made public it has had over 1 million! subscibers to the game. Dayz is developed by Bohemia Interactive Studio on the Arma II Real Virtuality engine. The engine was first originally designed for training the military all around the world, before a game version was released. It is a highly moddable engine and there are many variations of the game that can be found online. However Dayz has become something of folklore already in the gaming community. Dayz is much different from other multiplayer games in that the whole purpose of the Dayz game is to survive the Zombie apocalypse. It puts a whole new dimension to gaming as when you first load into Dayz you are equipped with only an 8 slot coyote pack, a flash light, a bandage and a pack of painkillers. The object of playing Dayz is to survive the Zombies and the bandits. The Dayz Zombies are AI, however the bandits are players. You spawn in as a survivor and other survivors may try to kill you for your gear. So if trying to avoid the Dayz Zombies wasn't enough you also have to contend with other players trying to loot your gear. Hence the now famous saying, "Is there anyone in Cherno?". The map itself is a 225 km2 (Yes it isnt small by any means!) based in Russia. The map is called Chernogorsk. Cherno is popular to many people as this is where many of the beginning DayZ loot items can be found. With that comes the Dayz bandits waiting to scope you up! The Day Z game itself allows you to log off and come back on at anytime with the same gear you had before. If you die you start from scratch. This is why it has a different game feel to many other games, as it can take a few days to kit yourself out with good gear. Then you have to decide if you want to take risks in finding more gear or look for positions to loot other players. It can put a little pit in your stomach when you see a player nearby and have to make a decision to shoot, or fade into the woodlands. There are many aspects of the Dayz game. To play the game you will need Arma II (id opt for Combined Operations - a must for playing DayZ - as that is a pack in itself ) Available online or through Steam. I would opt for Steam as any updates are automatic with Arma itself but you will also need 6 Updater ( Link also included and the DayZ Mod Game itself. Link also Included). It will be a bit disoriantating to start with. It is also a game for those that are patient. If you are not the patient kind then this DayZ game is probably not for you. I have also included a dayz map for those that are starting. Dayz Maps can be found as loot items, but can take some time to find. It is also a good idea to team up with some people. That way you have a better chance of surviving in Day Z. I have set up a forum for those that wish to join.
In the meantime Welcome to Arma2Dayz.com S.A.S.R and enjoy!
The 27th MEU (Marine Expeditionary Unit), part of the United States Marine Corps' European Command, have been deployed to the former soviet country of Chernarus. Of the Ground Combat Element, Force Reconnaissance Team “Razor” are among the first to fight. Under 1st Sgt Patrick Miles, this elite five-man team are about to fall down the rabbit hole, trapped in a war not only for control of the country, but the hearts and minds of its people. With the might of the USMC offshore and the Russians anxiously watching from the north, the stakes couldn't be higher. The fate of Chernarus is balanced on a razor's edge...
Although ArmA 2 is set in the fictional ex-soviet state of 'Chernarus' the gameworld is actually a 225 square kilometer chunk of the real world! ArmA 2's highly detailed landscape is a meticulous facsimile of real terrain, modelled using extensive geographical data. This recreated region is brought to life with spectacular environmental effects and populated with dynamic civilian settlements and wildlife. Wild animals roam the atmospheric forests while the people of Chernarus try to live out their lives among the war-torn streets.
ArmA 2 features a player-driven, branching campaign. Your actions have consequences! Win the hearts and minds of the warring factions inside Chernarus, or play them off against one another! Your choices will shape the future country. Ultimately, you decide which faction (if any) survives to rule. Will you establish a lasting peace, or kick off a final war?
In ArmA 2 a staggeringly vast array of military hardware is at your disposal. 73 modern weapons, 167 vehicle variants in the air, on land and at sea. The unique AI think and act independently, changing tactics on the fly. No scripts. No pre defined pathways. ArmA 2's AI share information, communicating with each other to hunt players down. They'll use cover and artillery, adapting to your actions and the changing environment.
Building on 10 years of constant engine development, ArmA 2 boasts the most realistic combat environment in the world. It models real world ballistics & round deflection, materials penetration, features a realtime day/night cycle and dynamic wind, weather and environmental effects. The simulation of a combat environment is so effective, the engine forms the basis for training simulators used by real armies the world over.
